Queen Margrethe II’s Bridge (Storstrøm Bridge), Denmark is a major infrastructure project connecting Zealand and Falster, designed with a 120-year service life. Spanning approximately four kilometres, the bridge carries road, rail, pedestrian and cycle traffic across the Storstrømmen strait. Nearly 90,000 tonnes of cement from Aalborg Portland were supplied for the project, including AALBORG WHITE® for selected structural elements. The carefully engineered concrete mix was chosen to withstand the harsh marine environment, providing long-term resistance to chloride penetration, corrosion, freeze-thaw cycles and other durability challenges.
