A recent project on the seafront promenade of Les Sables-d’Olonne illustrates the performance of Aalborg White cement in demanding marine environments. The rehabilitation of the Clemenceau promenade parapets required durable precast solutions capable of withstanding continuous exposure to coastal conditions while integrating with the architectural character of the seafront.

As part of the works, 350 precast elements were produced to form approximately 300 linear metres of breakwater parapets. The units were manufactured using white concrete, with a total volume of 480 m³. To ensure visual harmony with the surrounding seafront architecture, a 0.5% stone-tone pigment was incorporated into the mix.

Given the exposure to aggressive marine conditions, the elements were designed to meet the XS3 exposure class and achieve a C45/55 strength class. The mix design utilised CEM I 52.5 R CE NF PM-classified Aalborg White cement, selected for its performance in structures exposed to marine environments.

The project was carried out in partnership with Socap Betsinor, whose expertise in precast manufacturing supported both the technical requirements and the aesthetic objectives of the rehabilitation works.
